milestones

I had a very severe stroke just before thanksgiving 2016. i survived, obviously, but the road to recovery is a long one. Today, for the first time since the stroke(7 months), I went out to my van and began cleaning it in anticipation of hitting the road again. My brother helped a lot, putting the backpacker back on the hitch and moving a bunch of stuff back onto it.. he also pulled out my d/c freezer, hosed it out and put it back, with the top opened.to dry out, but only after he brought out the shop vac and vacuumed at least 4 dogs worth of hair from the front section of the van. I found a bunch of things I wanted, a necklace I had intended to give to my granddaughter, a tablet I was told multiple times ''wasn't there'', the dogs tennis ball thrower... important stuff! We also spoke some about the things I wanted done inside the van and mechanical stuff that needs doing. good to have family willing to help. I forgot to look for my external hard drive, I have hundreds of pics on it and was going to start documenting some of my travels. Till next time, safe travels friends!

someday

Nothing but roadblocks for the last 6 weeks. Some of my own making, some were karma. Everything is mostly done, waiting on a title and plates.  Maybe it's a good thing since the temps have reached the high 90's and the humidity is trying to match that. My poor dog is not acclimated to this weather,  she spends most of her time indoors lying on the a/c vent in the kitchen. Maybe I'll go join her.

ramblings

The weather has things on the van going slowly so I continue  the seemingly never ending task of downsizing. You thought I was joking about procrastinating. It's been 2 weeks since my last post and I all I have done was clean off the back porch. sorta. ugh. I may have hit the point where getting the storage unit and moving stuff there is my next move. I think that when I get all that "stuff" out of the way I will see how little I have left to do ... or so I'm hoping.

Renting a storage unit is bothering me, I don't want to spend money foolishly. On the other hand I have things that are, either monetarily or emotionally, valuable to me.  My daughter thinks I should keep minimal stuff in case I decide I don't like traveling and want to come back. The biggest problem is she doesn't have anywhere I can store stuff and I have no other relatives here. bah. Tomorrow I tape off a 5 x 10 section of the living room and start playing furniture tetris!

procrastination

I've known for years I was going to do this someday.
I've known for a year that  it would be soon.

I still have a house half full of stuff but I'm beating it at it's own game, albeit slowly.  Had a wonderful bonfire Sunday night and brought 2 loads of stuff to the Salvation Army. The attic is empty, as is the living room and 1 bedroom. I went through the kitchen once, need to go through again and be ruthless this time!

A load of file cabinets for a former co-worker and 3 totes of books for his wife await pickup on the porch. My youngest has laid claim to the vacuum, rug cleaner and assorted kitchen things, they will be the last to go. As much as I hate it, there are things I can't get rid of so a storage rental is in my future.

So much to do.
